MEMORANDUM TO SENATOR DOLE

DA: April 29, 1995
FR: Alec Vachon
RE: FYI/ARTHUR ULLIAN

On Monday afternoon, Sheila and I will be meeting with Arthur Ullian to discuss his ideas on biomedical research-- breakthroughs in curing diseases--as a solution to health care and long-term care cost containment. (As I understand your conversation with him in Boston in February, you have some interest in a task force or informal advisory group on this issue.)

I have mentioned this issue to various disease groups-- particularly persons working in arthritis--and its always excites people. It also may have some campaign interst--Nixon's "War on Cancer" redux.
