SCHEDULE FOR THE WEEK OF APRIL 6, 1992
TODAY, TUESDAY, APRIL 7
THE SENATE WILL CONVENE AT 2:30 P.M., AND BEGIN CONSIDERATION OF THE BUDGET RESOLUTION. THERE IS 50 HOURS FOR DEBATE BY STATUTE, HOWEVER, THERE WILL BE AN ATTEMPT TO YIELD BACK SOME OF THAT TIME. ALSO, VOTES COULD OCCUR ON AMENDMENTS TO THE BUDGET DURING TODAY'S SESSION OF THE SENATE.
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 8 - THURSDAY, APRIL 9
THE SENATE IS EXPECTED TO REMAIN ON THE BUDGET RESOLUTION FOR THE BALANCE OF THE WEEK. THEREFORE, VOTES CAN BE EXPECTED TO OCCUR AND LATE SESSION CAN BE ANTICIPATED, IN ORDER TO COMPLETE ACTION ON THE BUDGET RESOLUTION. IN ADDITION, THERE MAY BE AN ATTEMPT TO CONSIDER A SHORT EXTENSION FOR R.T.C. PRIOR TO THE SENATE'S RECESS THIS WEEK.
NOTE:
THE MAJORITY LEADER HAS INDICATED TO ME PRIVATELY HIS DESIRE TO COMPLETE ACTION ON THE BUDGET RESOLUTION BY THURSDAY, AND NOT BE IN SESSION FRIDAY OF THIS WEEK.

1. Other:
· Budget Resolution. 50 hour time agreement (Domenici may want to comment).
Some likely battles:
· Defense levels
· Social Security Notch
· Social Security Firewalls
· Cut in domestic cap.
2. Other Issues.
· RTC. Still awaiting House action. Delay adding approximately $2.8 million a day to cost of the resolution.
· Democrats. Have a big party dinner on Wednesday -- likely to be out Wednesday by 6:30 p.m. or so.
· Campaign Finance. Likely to come up immediately after Easter recess.
· Unemployment Compensation. Conversations have begun with White House/Labor re: simple extension of extended benefits program.
