Obviously, to sustain a veto in the Senate we would neet to get 7 of the 10 Republicans in the "Leaning Against," "Undecided" and "Leaning For" columns.
A number of Members believe that the Hatch preferred rehire bill (which Sen. Hatch intends to offer as an amendment) provides them with adequate cover on the issue. This option must continue to be emphasized to thoe Republicans still on the fence.
Unfortunately, I get the sense that nay changes to the Dodd bill which make some of its provisions less onerous (particularly to the medical leave provisions), may result in those in the "Undecided" column going with the Democrats. Dodd apparently is eager to cut a deal this year (unfortunately, any such dela will contain a leave mandate which is unacceptable to the Administration and vast majority of Republicans)
