Senator Warner has been working with Senator Ford to work out details on the codel to the Mideast. The itinerary seems set and both gentlemen seem to agree on what to see and do. I detected no serious problems between the two.
Warner and Ford will have a meeting tomorrow following the Policy Luncheon to discuss the details of the trip with the members who will be going. Warner is likely to announce the meeting during tomorrow's luncheon.

WARNER MET WITH FORD TO DISCUSS THE ITINERARY AND OTHER ISSUES RELATED TO THE TRIP. THE FOLLOWING MAY HELP ANSWER QUESTIONS THAT MEMBERS HAVE:
-- IT LOOKS LIKE A THURSDAY AFTERNOON DEPARTURE -- 5:15 PICK UP AT THE CAPITOL STEPS. BAGGAGE PICK UP WILL BE EARLIER IN THE DAY AND BE COORDINATED BY THE ARMY (COL. FRANK NORTON).
-- WE WILL FLY STRAIGHT THROUGH TO RIYAHD, ARRIVING AROUND 6:00 PM ON FRIDAY EVENING TO RON. NO OFFICIAL FUNCTIONS ARE CURRENTLY PLANNED FOR THAT EVENING.
-- THE GENERAL COURSE OF EVENTS WILL INCLUDE A MEETING WITH SCHWARZKOPF, THE U.S. AMBASSADOR TO SAUDI, A TRIP TO KUWAIT CITY, FLYOVER THE BATTLEFIELDS, MEETING WITH THE EMIR AND KING FAHD, MEET WITH TROOPS, ETC.
-- WE WILL DEPART SUNDAY EVENING AND EXPECT TO ARRIVE ANDREWS ON MONDAY BETWEEN 9:00 AM AND 3:00 PM DEPENDING ON WHETHER MEMBERS WISH TO RON ON THE WAY BACK. (WARNER WANTS TO RON, FORD DOES NOT).
-- DRESS WILL BE "RUGGED CASUAL" AND A FIRM BOOT OR SHOE IS RECOMMENDED. ATHLETIC SHOES OR DOCKSIDERS WON'T PROTECT THE FEET FROM SHARP STONES. A SPORT COAT AND TIE WILL BE REQUIRED FOR THE VISIT WITH THE KING AND EMIR BUT NO OTHER TIME.
-- THE TEMPERATURE WILL RANGE FROM HIGH 60'S IN THE DAY TO 40'S AT NIGHT. REMOVABLE LAYERED CLOTHING IS ENCOURAGED -- JACKET, SWEATERS, ETC. ADDITIONALLY, SUNGLASSES AND A HAT WILL COME IN HANDY.
