ATTACHED IS THE LIST OF ATTENDEES FOR TONIGHT'S DINNER. A VERY SMALL -- AND, EXCEPT FOR GERSTNER, MAXWELL AND TAPPAN, NOT PARTICULARLY PRESTIGIOUS -- GROUP.
Rabbi Balkany we all know. Ted Kratovil is the lobbyist for US Tobacco. Haley Barbour is a former White House staffer and State GOP Chairman attending for John Palmer. Andy Littlefair is former Reagan Advance Man attending for Boone Pickens. Delbert Dunmire is our friend from Kansas City, whose source of income has always been somewhat of a question to all of us.
In short, I don't see any particular need for the Senator to spend a great deal of time with these folks.

WHAT: The Chairman's Foundation is the NRSC's corporate donor group. These persons are committed to giving $50,000 per election cycle to the NRSC. The official launching of this program was less than 4 weeks ago, and we are very excited to report over 20 members signed up to date. Some of the membership include:

WHEN AND WHERE: The first meeting of the Chairman's Foundation will be dinner in the Mansfield Room from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., and it highlights the Republican members of the Senate Finance Committee. Cocktails will be from 6:00-6:30, followed by dinner.
Joanne, what I would like to propose in having the cocktails from 6:00–6:30 in Senator Dole's office. We would then walk across the hall to dinner. The smaller atmosphere of Senator Dole's office is more personal, and would certainly add to the dinner.
The program for the evening is very informal. At approximately 6:30, Senator Nickles will introduce himself as the Chairman of the Chairman's Foundation, welcome everyone, and invite them to join him and the members of the Senate Finance Committee for dinner across the hall.

Once everyone is seated, Senator Nickles will tell everyone to begin eating. Then he will thank Senator Dole for hosting cocktails in his office, introduce the Senators who are present and ask everyone else to intro themselves.
Senator Nickles will then talk about the Chairman's Foundation, its purpose and objectives and goals. He will then ask Senator Dole to make a few comments about the importance of the 1990 Senate elections to the Republican Party.
Senator Dole will speak for 5 minutes or so. Senator Nickles will ask if any other Senators would like to make a comment.
The remainder of the dinner is casual - everyone talks to whomever they feel like.
