Dear Rev. {redacted}:

Thank you for your recent letter regarding the mural at the District of Columbia Bicentennial Center.

Agree with you that the mural was certainly in bad taste. However, it was removed around the first of February and replaced by a painting of famous Americans more in keeping with our nation's history. The mural was paid for by the staff at the Center and no Government funds were involved.

Any time I may be of assistance, do not hesitate to let me know.

Sincerely,

BOB DOLE
United States Senator

(handwritten) Dear Sir;
I would urge that an investigation be made of the "Bicentennial Commission" in Wash. D.C. I understand that one of the murals unveiled in January portrayed such men as Karl Marx, Friedrich Engels, Joseph Stalin, and Mao Tse-Tung as people who were involved in the part 200 years of U.S. history.

We want only the picturing of American heroes in the bicentennial headquarters.

Such acts as this make us wonder what's happening to our leaders in Washington. We want to support our elected officials. Help us to continue to eliminate those who are unworthy of our trust.

Sincerely
Rev. {redacted}
