III. A list of some of the other Armenian-Americans who have agreed to support the Campaign but are unable to attend the meeting.

Some of the attendees will be bringing contributions to the meeting. You may want to consider crediting these and future funds from the Armenian-Americans for Dole program toward Mr. Hovnanian's National Co-Chairman's commitment.

1. Senator Dole's continued commitment to an Armenian Genocide Resolution, and his support of the Holocaust Commission's decision to include Armenians in their museum and educational programs.

2. Senator Dole's continued commitment to the universal application of religious and minority rights in the Middle East and around the world.

3. The proposed economic programs of the Dole Administration

4. Appointment of Armenian-Americans in the Dole Administration.

5. The participation of President Dole in an Armenian-Americans Banquet in his honor in 1989, and

6. The political and fundraising support of meeting attendees for the "Dole for President" through the Armenian-Americans for Bob Dole campaign.

ARMENIAN-AMERICANS BREAKFAST

Genocide resolution (S.J. Res. 43, introduced by Cranston, did not get the requisite 50 cosponsors -- so it did not come to the Floor this session):

o SUPPORT RESOLUTION. AS I INDICATED IN BOSTON, THE PROCESS OF HEALING CAN NEVER BEGIN IF WE PRETEND THIS TERRIBLE TRAGEDY NEVER OCCURRED.

o MUST GEAR UP RIGHT AFTER THE FIRST OF THE YEAR, TO INSURE 50 COSPONSORS BY FEBRUARY -- SO JUDICIARY WILL ACT, AND WE CAN GET THIS TO FLOOR IN APRIL.

Holocaust museum (issue is whether Armenian Genocide materials are included in museum displays and educational programs):

o WHAT'S THE STATE OF PLAY? IF IT WOULD BE HELPFUL, I'D BE HAPPY TO WRITE THE MUSEUM ADMINISTRATORS.

Human rights abuses (of Armenians living in Turkey and the Soviet Union -- see attached, which you can pass around):

o THIS NEEDS TO BE ON OUR AGENDA FOR MEETINGS WITH SOVIETS (NO LESS THAN SUPPRESSION OF SOVIET JEWRY).

o LET'S KEEP THIS IN MIND AS THE SUMMIT APPROACHES -- I WILL WRITE THE PRESIDENT, TO INCLUDE THIS ON AGENDA.

Armenian-Americans in Dole Administration

o APPOINTMENTS ARE GOING TO BE MADE ON ONE BASIS IN MY ADMINISTRATION: TALENT.

o THAT GUARANTEES WE'RE GOING TO HAVE MANY TOP-NOTCH ARMENIAN AMERICANS.

Armenians Protest

·MOSCOW-Police broke up a protest by about 1,000 demonstrators for Armenian national rights in the Armenian capital of Yerevan, Moscow-based dissident sources said. It was the second day of massive public protests there.

On Saturday, at least 3,000 people marched in Yerevan to demand the closing of a chemical plant and a nuclear power station, according to other Moscow-based sources. Police tried to prevent that demonstration but made no moves to stop it once it was under way.
