SUBJECT: Meeting with State Farm Bureau Presidents

Doyle Rahjes contacted me on Tuesday to indicate that you had discussed a meeting with several State Farm Bureau Presidents in Washington for this week. When I asked Doyle who he thought should be present, he indicated the following list of six:

Doyle has contacted each of the above group, and all but John White of Illinois have indicated that they would make arrangements to attend the Friday meeting. Doyle asked whether you would be inviting Senators representing the various states. In addition, Stockman has confirmed that he can attend. No word has been received yet from Block's office.

If appropriate, I will call Doyle to indicate that the meeting will be limited to Kansas and Iowa, and that a larger meeting may be scheduled later when all state Farm Bureau presidents come to town.

WASHINGTON -- Senate Majority Leader Bob Dole will hold a meeting tomorrow morning (Friday, February 1), at 9:30am, in (crossed out) room S=230 of the Capitol with (end cross out) agriculture leaders and Administration officials. The session will focus on the farm debt crisis and associated farm problems.
Agriculture Secretary John Block and Budget Director David Stockman will attend the meeting. Some Senators and Farm Bureau presidents from farm states are also expected to participate.
There will be a photo-op and stake-out.
