SUBJECT: TENTATIVE AGENDA FOR FIRST 60 DAYS OF THE 99TH CONGRESS

JANUARY
January 3, 1985
a. Conference of Republican members will convene at 9:30 a.m.
(handwritten) 1/2 STOCKMAN - S-207
1. David Stockman briefing on the Administration's proposed budget initiatives.
2. Confirm members of the Committee on Committees; the Policy Committee and the Campaign Committee.
3. Review recommendations of Quayle Committee and possibly appoint an ad hoc committee to study the Quayle committee recommendations.
b. The Senate will convene at 12:00 noon. No roll call votes will be conducted.
The Senate is expected to conduct the following business:
1. Swear in new Senators
2. Permit introduction of legislation accompanied by brief remarks.
3. Consider a number of housekeeping resolutions.
January 4, 1985
Committee Chairmen and the ranking Republican member of each committee, in addition to the Republican Leadership, will meet from 2:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. to review the Administration's preliminary budget proposals.

January 7, 1985
The Senate will convene at 12:00 noon for the sole purpose of participating in a joint meeting of the House and Senate to count the electoral ballots. No roll call votes will be conducted.
January 7-20, 1985
The Senate will not be in session. It is expected that during this time period
1. The Committee on Committees will complete its work.
2 The ad hoc working group will complete its work on reviewing the Quayle report
3. Meetings on the Administrations budget will continue in an attempt to prepare recommendations for consideration by the Republican members.
January 21, 1985 - Inauguration Day
The Senate will convene at 4:00 p.m. for a brief time in order to receive nominations and conduct any necessary business. No roll call votes will be conducted and while legislation can be introduced no speeches or remarks will be given.
January 22-31, 1985
The Senate will convene daily.
FEBRUARY
The Senate is expected to be in session with the exception of the Lincoln Day Recess scheduled for February 11-17. The 18th of February is a Federal holiday, however, the Senate will convene at 12:00 noon for the sole purpose of the reading of Washington's Farewell Address on the 18th. No business will be conducted nor will there be any votes.

SUBJECT: TENTATIVE AGENDA FOR FIRST 60 DAYS OF THE 99TH CONGRESS

JANUARY
January 3, 1985
a. Conference of Republican members will convene at 9:30 a.m.

1. David Stockman briefing on the Administration's proposed budget initiatives.
2. Confirm members of the Committee on Committees; the Policy Committee and the Campaign Committee.
3. Review recommendations of Quayle Committee and possibly appoint an ad hoc committee to study the Quayle committee recommendations.
b. The Senate will convene at 12:00 noon. No roll call votes will be conducted.
The Senate is expected to conduct the following business:
1. Swear in new Senators
2. Permit introduction of legislation accompanied by brief remarks.
3. Consider a number of housekeeping resolutions.
January 4, 1985
Committee Chairmen and the ranking Republican member of each committee, in addition to the Republican Leadership, will meet from 2:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. to review the Administration's preliminary budget proposals.

January 7, 1985
The Senate will convene at 12:00 noon for the sole purpose of participating in a joint meeting of the House and Senate to count the electoral ballots. No roll call votes will be conducted.
January 7-20, 1985
The Senate will not be in session. It is expected that during this time period
1. The Committee on Committees will complete its work.
2 The ad hoc working group will complete its work on reviewing the Quayle report
3. Meetings on the Administrations budget will continue in an attempt to prepare recommendations for consideration by the Republican members.
January 21, 1985 - Inauguration Day
The Senate will convene at 4:00 p.m. for a brief time in order to receive nominations and conduct any necessary business. No roll call votes will be conducted and while legislation can be introduced no speeches or remarks will be given.
January 22-31, 1985
The Senate will convene daily.
FEBRUARY
The Senate is expected to be in session with the exception of the Lincoln Day Recess scheduled for February 11-17. The 18th of February is a Federal holiday, however, the Senate will convene at 12:00 noon for the sole purpose of the reading of Washington's Farewell Address on the 18th. No business will be conducted nor will there be any votes.
