Miss (Redacted)
Aurora, Colorado 80010
Dear Miss (Redacted):
This will acknowledge your telegram concerning my remarks to the families of prisoners of war and men missing in action last Monday at the Statler Hilton.
Let me just say that I would not, nor would President Nixon, advocate any plan which would abandon these brave men. As you know, I have long been active in efforts to secure release, or at the very least, better treatment for these unfortunate men -- and will continue to work toward this goal. Also, President Nixon, in his address to these families at the Tuesday dinner, reiterated his commitment to these men and their families.
Am enclosing a copy of the full text of my remarks, as well as the text of the President's address, which I believe will be of interest to you. Also enclosed is a copy of a recent "Evans-Novak" article regarding Hanoi's ambiguity on the subject of prisoner release.
Again, you may be assured of my continuing efforts in behalf of these men, and trust you will let me know whenever I may be of assistance in any way.
Sincerely yours,
BOB DOLE
