PARALYZED VETERANS OF AMERICA

Dear Member of Congress

On behalf of the members of the Paralyzed Veterans of America, I urge your rejection of any effort to recommit the “Americans with Disabilities Act” and your strong support for acceptance of the report of the conferees. The effort to recommit this long overdue legislation based on the conferees omission of the Chapman Amendment is a disservice to the members of PVA, all veteran disabled in service to the Nation and all citizens with disabilities.

To delay and possible even thwart ultimate passage of this much needed legislation due to an amendment that is predicted on ignorance and bias and fosters continued discrimination would be unconscionable. For over forty years the men and women of Paralyzed Veterans of America have worked toward the goal of eliminating attitudinal and physical barriers in all aspects of American life. To see this goal, which is now on the verge of becoming is to ignore the sacrifice which veterans have made for all Americans.

Again, on behalf of the members of Paralyzed Veterans of America, I urge the defeat of any effort to have the “Americans with Disabilities Act” recommitted and that you strongly work to ensure that this needed legislation is enacted into law.

Sincerely,
