Dear Bob:

I am writing to express my wholehearted appreciation for the Senate's action last Friday on H.R. 2769, legislation you recently introduced as S. 1978, to provide greater equity in the provision of retirement income for women.

Pension reform continues to be a top priority of my Administration, and you have my personal pledge that we will devote the necessary resources to achieve early adoption of such legislation in the House.

I believe it is imperative that legislation be adopted that will eliminate discrimination in our Nation's pension laws and significantly improve the ability of women to realize a fair and equitable retirement income. Bob, I applaud your efforts to help achieve this end.

Sincerely,
(handwritten) Ronald Reagan
