Hughes, USAF Military Assistant to the President The White House Washington, D. C. 20500 Dear General Hughes: Thanks for your letter of the nineteenth, and I appreciate your letting me know the results of your conversation with Phyllis Galenti. Certainly understand the feelings these girls have occasionally of the need to be reassured, and appreciate your giving her a call. Thanks again, and if we can be of any assistance to you in your efforts for these girls, please let me know. Sincerely yours, BOB DOLE U. S. We had a good conversation and I believe that she is in good shape at least for the time being. She, like so many others, feels the ever-increasing pressures of frustration and anxiety and need to be reassured periodically. In her case, she has always been pro-Administration, so it was not difficult to get through to her. I feel that she will influence the other girls in her area as best she can. We do have a plan for keeping the families informed on the latest developments through mailings and individual contacts. We hope that it will be effective, but it is too early to tell. Naturally, I am always grateful for your input regarding the temperament and attitude of the families as you see them in your travels. Thank you again for remembering us. Sincerely, (signature) JAMES D. HUGHES Brigadier General, United States Air Force Military Assistant to the President Honorable Robert Dole United States Senate Washington, D.
