Thank you very much for your letter of September 23 requesting information about funds available for your local Bicentennial project.
I am pleased to learn of your intention to renovate the old railroad station building in Liberal, and, as you know, am anxious to assist in any way to get the Bicentennial project underway in Kansas.
In contacting the National Bicentennial Commission here in Washington, I learned that all forms of financial assistance for such projects are distributed through the State ARBC Committee. Thus, you would want to make application directly to the Wichita Bicentennial Office: John Taylor II, Executive Director, Kansas State ARBC, 1518 North Broadway, Wichita, Kansas 67214, 316-262-7404.
In addition you may wish to contact the Regional ARBC Office in Kansas City: Frank Harrington, 911 Walnut Street, Room 602, Kansas City, Missouri 64104, 816-374-2303.

You are perhaps aware that our local Art Association in co-operation with the Chamber of Commerce and the Bicentennial Committee are working toward the acquiring of the old Railroad Station Building here in Liberal, Kansas, to make it an Art Gallery and restoring it as nearly as possible to its original condition. This, of course, may require a considerable amount of money. Are you aware of any cultural arts funds, Bicentennial funds or any other Federal funds which might help us in the acquiring and restoring of this building as a major Bicentennial project? Please advise.
