AGENDA -- LEADERSHIP 
Tuesday, November 10, 1992
· As Senator Stevens suggested, its time to circle the wagons and unite as a group.
· The Leadership elections are over -- its time to come together as a team.
· The absence of the White House makes our job much tougher.
· We need to develop resources internally and do a better job of coordination.
· Particular attention must be given to the new nominees -- I would hope we could assist the Ranking Members in their work in preparing for hearings.
· Rebuilding the Party must also be part of our efforts -- hope you'll join with Leader Michel, and G.N. Thompson in asking Committee members to hold off committing to any one candidate for the time being. Lets consider carefully what we need.
· We need to decide subjects of first five bills -- highlight Republican priorities.
· Further build on the strengths we have built over the years.
· Assistant Leader -- Organize Rapid Responses on the Floor - - make sure we have Senators to object.
· Conference -- Build on our superb multi-media capability -- need to organize "made for media" responses.
· Policy -- The Research Arm -- We have asked RNC to compile a list of departing Administration personnel and outside experts who we can call on to formulate our initiatives and respond to President-elect Clinton. As indicated by Ranking Members, seek more direct involvement by Senators.
· The importance of the Policy Committee was noted by the Ranking Members at one meeting -- they are anxious to forge stronger ties.
· Conference Secretary -- Lead Nomination Review -- We will be asked to confirm thousands of nominees to Administration and the Courts -- we must be prepared for thorough review.
· Campaign Committee -- Great opportunities -- 22 Democrats vs. 12 Republicans in 1994. Fundraising -- will be key. As well, early recruitment will be key.
