When the Senate reconvenes following the August recess, there will be approximately 42 (Monday through Friday) Senate session days, if the Senate intends to adjourn by Friday, November 8, or Saturday, November 9. (This is the weekend before Veteran's day, and also excludes the Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur, Wednesday, Sept. 18, and Columbus Day, Monday, Oct. 14). Therefore, this breaks down to approximately 9 weeks of Senate session, prior to adjournment of the 1st session of the 102nd Congress.
