Today, we are holding a reception for Rabbi Moshe Sorotzkin and his wife, Rabbanit Rachel Sorotzkin, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Republican Leader's Capitol Office, Room S-230. Born in the United States, the Sorotzkins moved to Israel in 1969. Rabbi Sorotzkin is the city manager of Telse-stone, which neighbors on Abu Gosh, one of the oldest Arab villages within the Green Line. Both villages are considered symbolic of Arab-Israeli unity. The daughter of Holocaust survivors, Ms. Sorotzkin is the mother of 13 children and is recognized as the spiritual and educational leader of the women's division at Telse-stone.
The Sorotzkins are also very involved with the American Promenade in Israel, a bipartisan, private project to create a monument in Israel to the alliance of the United States and Israel. In addition to the Prime Minister of Israel, the Vice Premier, the Foreign Minister, and the Minister for Minorities, Ehud Olmert, and the leaders of the two major parties in Israel, 47 of our colleagues serve on the advisory council of the Promenade.
