I have talked to Jack Dicus, President of Native Sons and Daughters Banquet this year, and he advised you do not need to wear a tuxedo -- the Board will be wearing them but he does not anticipate that anyone else will. He also said it would be fine for you to leave early for our reception. He certainly understood the need for you to be there when it starts.
